Real Betis vs Barcelona Live Stream

Barcelona, as they travel to Estadio Benito Villamarín to face Real Betis in La Liga, will look to put their turbulent week behind them on Sunday.

Athletic Bilbao kicked the Catalan club out of the Copa del Rey on Thursday, two days after their captain and talisman Lionel Messi hit back on social media at Eric Abidal, following the players ‘ criticism of the sporting director.

Sunday’s fixture will see Barcelona boss Quique Setién return for the first time to Estadio Benito Villamarín since leaving the club in May 2019.

Setién spent two years with Betis, in his first season in charge, leading the club into the Europa League.

The hosts themselves are going into the game on a tricky run of form, having won just one of their last six matches in La Liga.

Can side of last few weeks will bounce back better from their daunting one? Here’s a 90min rundown of the fixture from Sunday.

Team News

After undergoing knee surgery in January, Luis Suarez remains a long term absentee for Barcelona. Already set to miss Ousmane Dembele for months after injuring his hamstring in training.

Lionel Messi has reportedly been playing for several weeks through a thigh injury, but such is Barcelona’s reliance on the Argentinian, it’s unlikely he’ll be resting for Sunday’s fixture.

On Thursday, Gerrard Pique was forced off with injury to Bilbao, but insisted it was nothing serious.

Betis meanwhile, midfielders Andres Guardado, William Carvalho are unavailable to muscle injuries and winger Juanmi to foot injury. Zouhair Feddal is again available, missing Betis ‘ draw with Eibar by suspension.

Head to Head Record

Barcelona has the top record between the pair, having lost just one of their last 16 matches to Betis. Betis ‘ single victory at Camp Nou back in 2018 was a sensational 4-3 win.

In August, Barcelona won the reverse fixture 5-2, where Antoine Griezmann grabbed a brace. Betis have not beaten at home in Barcelona since January 2011.

Barcelona is really struggling and the last place they want to be in an attempt to stop the rot is on the road; since 1 December they have not won away from home. A quick fix between Thursday and Sunday will unlikely have been found.

With the current disharmony and injuries to key players, the Catalan side could fail from their trip to Betis to come away with all three points.
